File Processing

ConvertFree processes all files entirely within your web browser using WebAssembly (WASM) technology. Your files are never uploaded to any server. All conversion, compression, and trimming operations happen locally on your device. We have no access to your files and cannot see, store, or share them.

Data Collection

We collect anonymous usage statistics such as page views, browser type, and general geographic region. This data helps us improve the service and is not linked to your identity or files.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party services for website hosting and delivering the WebAssembly conversion engine. These services serve static pages only — no file processing occurs on any server.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Because ConvertFree processes files entirely in your browser and does not collect personal file data, most GDPR data subject rights are satisfied by default — we simply do not have your files or personal data to access, rectify, or delete.

For the minimal anonymous analytics data we collect, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the anonymous data associated with your visit
  • Request deletion of any analytics data linked to your session
  • Object to processing of analytics data
  • Opt out of analytics tracking by enabling Do Not Track in your browser

Our legal basis for processing anonymous analytics data is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — specifically, understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve the service.

Data Retention

Converted files exist only in your browser's memory during the conversion session and are discarded when you close the tab or navigate away. We retain no file data whatsoever. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 26 months, consistent with standard analytics retention periods.
